Dr. Diet weighs in:

Though I’m not in favor of any shows that publicly embarrass people who are trying to lose weight, I can’t deny the fact that the show the Biggest Loser has generated a lot of interest.

I also do agree with the diet experts in this article that a show like this can risk making dieters feel less successful if their weight loss isn’t fast enough. The truth is when it comes to long term weight loss, slow and steady usually wins the race.

One positive message from reality weight loss shows like the Biggest Loser is that competition can be a good thing to help motivate people to be more successful.

That’s why we have ongoing weight loss challenges here on diet.com. In a very caring and supportive environment, you can join thousands of other dieters and be inspired to lose weight.

Our challenges support the idea that the biggest challenge you face is with yourself. Helping you overcome your obstacles and be successful is what our challenges are all about.
