Celebrities and Diet

We know Organic is better but it's also more expensive. There some produce items that are worse than others of course. Some pesticides can be removed simply by pealing the fruit like a banana. Therefore, you don't need to spend extra money when purchasing bananas if you don't have the means.

I was emailed a list by a friend of the top contaminated foods. I found it to be so interesting but when it came time to go to the grocery store, I didn't remember which foods were on the list. I could have printed it out, but what about the next time? Would I remember?

Instead of giving you all a lecture, I figured I'd make up a song for you to sing in your head when you are at the grocery store. This song was created to help you decide when the extra money is worth it to buy organic. If the item's name is in the song, then buy it ORGANIC! Got it? If you love oranges, you will notice that the citrus fruit is not in the song. That means, it's ok not to buy organic. If you love peaches, you'll be happy to know that buy purchasing the organic version, you will be saving yourself from ingesting over 9 different pesticides. Watch the video to learn the song, or memorize the poem. I hope this helps :) P.S. I have a terrible voice and this took a lot of self confidence building.

Here are the lyrics (Tune of Twinkle, Twinkle)

Peaches and apples grow on trees,
sweet bell peppers celery
nectarines, cherries potatoes
pears lettuce grapes strawberries tomatoes,
spinach is the last produce,
now buy organic there's no excuse!
