Celebrities and Diet

Recently, Kate Bosworth and her on-again-off-again boyfriend Orlando Bloom broke-up. She is now blaming the split on the “Superman” curse. Entertainmentwise.com reports, “The stress of Kate filming and then promoting ‘Superman Returns’ was too much for her… especially with Orlando being so busy with ‘Pirate of the Caribbean’ at the same time.” The curse refers to the paralysis of Christopher Reeve, the mysterious death of George Reeve and Margot Kidder’s alcoholism. Kate apparently didn’t believe in the curse until now.

When “Blue Crush” first came out, I fell in love with Kate Bosworth. She had a natural charm that made me feel like I went to High School with her and I wanted to see her succeed in Hollywood. Last week, I could not believe the images I saw in all the entertainment magazines. Her collar bone and ribs look as if they were actually protruding out of her chest.
If there really is a ‘Superman’ curse could Kate’s eating habits and deteriorating body be the result? Could these have lead to her breakup with her beau?

This past week there have been Kate sightings in New York City, where it was reported that she was avoiding eating as well as chain smoking. Also, it has been published that Bosworth’s weight was an issue between the pair.

It upsets me to see Kate looking more like Nicole Richie (who thank god is finally admitting she needs to gain weight) than her old self back in her breakout movie. Now she is just another waif-like celebrity.

With the recent rule changes made during Fashion Week in Madrid, one can only hope this fad is finally fading out. Richie blames the stress of being in the eye of the public and the paparazzi as the culprit for her weight loss. Kate says she is naturally thin however chain smoking in restaurants is not something we learn “naturally.”

Clearly it is not natural for these young Hollywood glamour girls to weigh so little. It also distorts the rest of the publics perception that it is possible to eat normally and remain dangerously thin. It is not possible or natural.
The outpour of concern over these females has lead me to believe that our perception on weight is in the right direction. If Hollywood can make changes similar to those taken in Madrid, I think we will see a whole new batch of fresh and healthy faces. We can hope to see fuller figure lead actresses that young girls can really look up to like Scarlett Johansson. Let’s hope they decide to Film “Blue Crush 2” and Kate has to get buff again!

I do think models are too skinny but putting that outfit on that large of a woman was not pretty, I'm sorry.
