Diet.com Announces Winner of First Video Weight Loss Challenge on YouTube
BOSTON — November 29, 2007 — The winner of the first ever Diet.com Weight Loss Challenge on YouTube is announced today. Tracie Sanderlin of St. Louis, Missouri is the winner of a $2,500 prize.
The Diet.com Video Weight Loss Challenge Group was launched in September 2007. YouTube users were encouraged to share their 8-week weight loss journey by submitting weekly videos to the group 162 people have joined the group with more than 240 videos submitted.
“The importance of peer support for successful weight management has been documented over time,” says Mike Zhang, president of Diet.com, “YouTube provides a new and exciting venue for people to share their experience and get meaningful support through online videos. We are very pleased with the results of this challenge.”
Ms. Sanderlin started her journey in January 2007 when she weighed 372 lbs. At the start of the Diet.com Video Weight Loss challenge, Sanderlin had already lost 101 lbs and weighed 267 lbs, and today is 18 lbs lighter at 249 lbs. According to submitted videos, contestants lost an average of 11 lbs. over the 8 weeks.
The winner of the Diet.com YouTube Weight Loss Challenge was determined by the total number of views and ratings for all videos submitted by each participant. Each challenger is awarded a Diet.com premium membership and a free shirt for participating.
